The window on the left is your basic Windows Explorer type folder layout. As you burrow down through the tree, a folders content will become displayed in the right window. After you highlight a particular folder, you can click on the Explore option, which will open Windows Explorer. “See” it Duplication Info and “touch” it in Windows Explorer. If you do some maintenance in Explorer, you will have to click on the Refresh button to update Duplication Info. One item you will notice is that as you explore the folder tree, Duplication Info displays the physical disk location of each file.

Experience Level: Standard

Copying or even move files between shares or folders in a share on the home server is a slow task if you do it over the network, enter the WHS file manager add-in.

This is a simple dual-pane file manager for the WHS management console. It allows you to safely copy, move and delete files on your home server. It will only show your shared folders and it will use UNC for file copying. This means it will be slower than copying to/from local disks using remote desktop, but it’s also a lot safer.

Use command buttons in the middle to copy, move or delete files. Or you can drag and drop files and folders from one side to the other.
