ASoft AutoExit for Windows Home Server is a console add-in for Windows Home Server.
It can be used to shut down, reboot client machines in your home network
from within the console.
Other options are: suspend, hibernate, log off, lock workstation and the
server itself can be shut down or rebooted!
The server can be woken up via WOL from the client.
Sending a message to the different machines can also be done.
There is even support for opening a Remote Desktop session to the remote
machines and to the server!
Statistics are kept of all actions, so that a detailed trace can be viewed
on when certain actions were executed.
ASoft Live! Is now supported to inform the user when a new update is
available.

- Wake On Lan all clients.
- Send a message to all connected clients.
- Warn users when the server is going down.
- Support for Windows 7.
- Possibility to the Wake On Lan port to send to.
- Possibility to enable easy logging on the client side.
- Mac-address of the server is retrieved when opening the diagnostic dialog and the Mac field being empty.
- When downloading an update, it is automatically saved to the ‘Server\Software’ or ‘Server\Logiciel’ folder, if none of these exist the browse directory dialog is shown.
- Fix: On some machines the actions did not work and an error 998 was displayed, this has been fixed.
- Fix: Fixed issue that settings in Vista/Windows 7 weren’t read correctly and because of this AutoWOL Server didn’t work.
- Fix: Now when a client comes out of sleep, a WOL packet is sent to the server if enabled.
- Fix: Small improvement to the update dialog to show the product name.
- Fix: When using hibernate/sleep, the machine sometimes couldn’t be enabled again.
- Fix: Detects if Remote Desktop is enabled on a Home Edition.

- Much easier to set up, minimal configuring needed.

- Client software to install on each client machine to support more features
- Diagnostics module in the client that checks if hibernation & sleep is supported and if Remote Desktop is supported.
- It gives a set of instructions when one of these aren’t configured.
- Cancel a shutdown from the client.
- WOL Server from client is now possible. So waking up the server can now be done from every client.
- WOL Server from client automatically. This allows you to automatically WOL the server when a certain clients starts up.
- Gives a notification the first time the addin starts up with a small instruction set.
- Checks for new versions, when logging into the console or manually.
- The help is extended by a guideline document which is placed on the server so that it is easily accessible from the whole network, that contains the whole help on how to do the install, setup, troubleshooting completely with screenshots on how to do it in the different versions of Windows.
- Fixed issue with mac address, now a users can edit the mac address manually.
- When the list was refreshed and the popupmenu was open, the selection of the machine disappeared. Now the refresh doesn’t occur until the menu is closed.
- Option to shutdown the server
- 64bit support.

This is a great add-in however I am confused about the Version numbering. The new Version has a designation
v. 2009 (12/08/09) which I have downloaded and installed but the “About” tag say “2.0.1.1170″ can you please explain.
Also some of the descriptions of the new features leave me scratching my head, what does “Possibility to the Wake On Lan port to send to” mean, and “Mac-address of the server is retrieved when opening the diagnostic dialog and the Mac field being empty” is equally puzzling.
In my 40 years as a Sys Engr. for the likes of Honeywell, HP, Cisco etc. I know that careful,grammatical and consise writing can save literally man/years of tme and effort. I can attest to the fact that sloppy instructions and manuals have caused countless and very expensive problems during my career. Please read what you have written before releasing it.

Please download this version: http://www.asoft-ware.com/download.php?id=36
Make sure that you uninstall the 2008R2 first, then install this one.
It should then display: 2.1.1.2014.
At the moment there are 2 versions downloadable because some people don’t want to use beta software, so when the final is released I will remove 2008R2.
“Possibility to the Wake On Lan port to send to”: By default WOL works on port 7, but it can now be configured if needed.
“Mac-address of the server is retrieved when opening the diagnostic dialog and the Mac field being empty”: In 2008R2, you needed to fill in the MAC address of the server manually to be able to use the WOL functionality.
Now when the field isn’t filled in, it is automatically filled in.

Hi there is there any instruction on how to install this add-in? It keep tellining me that the amount of required disc exceeds the amount available? what am i doing wrong? I was able to install it on my server via add-in but not on the client machines. Any suggestion on how to do this please.

My question is can the client pc wake up the server using this product? I would like to be able to wake up and shutdown the server from a remote loaction for the purpose of security.

How do I get the server to sleep? I don’t find that in the options for AutoExit 2009 beta.

Maybe I am missing this and is it already there, but will the server automatically shut down the client after backup? That would be a great addition (or even better a selectable option)! Currently my pc is on all night, just for the backup, but could be shut down (or set to sleep or hibernate) after the backup is finished.

By default with WHS (without this add-in) your PC can sleep and the WHS will wake it up for backup. If you look at the WHS connector tray icon menu, there is a Wake for backup option just for that. So there is no reason to leave your PC ON all night. Let it sleep. It will wake-up for backup and go back to sleep.

I’m unable to start a remote desktop session to a windows xp home computer. Is there something else I need to setup?

I just tried v. 2009 (12/08/09) but decided to uninstall. I installed AutoExit to investigate problems with WHS backup but now now realise it does not use WOL. Which is just as well because none of the W7 machines I tried worked with WOL.
Also:
+ My WHS Console closed unexpectedly whilst I was using AutoExit,
+ I had an error message that aewhsserver.log could not be accessed as it was already in use,
+ aewhsserver.log appears to be encrypted (“…Zy0On+c1nP/DgNVXxn/Jq2bs/h796…”), which worried me a little.
So for peace of mind I uninstalled.
